FAQ
This FAQ applies to the mobile game Jeff’s Cosmic Brew.
What is Jeff's Cosmic Brew?
Jeff’s Cosmic Brew is a hybrid idle game available on Android and iOS devices, including both phones and tablets.
Who made it?
Jeff’s Cosmic Brew was created by a solo developer, HorizontalOwl (Kenneth Mason).
Does the game have cloud saving?
No, the game currently uses local saving only.
The game saves progress directly on your device. Cloud saving wasn’t included because it would require relying on external services and keeping those systems working long‑term. For a small indie project, that adds complexity and takes time away from improving the core game. Keeping progress local helps the game stay simple, stable, and easy to update. Cloud saving may be considered in the future, but there are no plans right now.
Jeff’s Cosmic Brew cannot be played in full landscape mode, but you can still use the game while holding your iPad in landscape. The game is designed for portrait play, so it needs to stay in a portrait‑shaped window - even when using iPad multitasking like Split View or Stage Manager. (Split View works on most iPads, while Stage Manager is available on newer models.)
If the window becomes too wide, the game will show a warning. Just resize or rotate the window until the portrait view is restored.
What happens if I delete the game or switch devices?
Game progress is saved directly on your device. This means deleting the game or switching devices will reset your progress, because the game does not use cloud saving.
However, any one‑time purchases you’ve made in the shop are tied to your Google Play or Apple App Store account. These purchases can be restored on a new device as long as you use the same store account.
Why doesn’t the game support cloud saving?
Cloud saving wasn’t included because it would require relying on external services and keeping those systems working long‑term. As a small indie project, the focus is on keeping the game simple, stable, and easy to update.
Which languages does the game support?
The game includes a wide range of languages to make it accessible to players around the world. Each translation is designed to be clean, minimal, and native‑sounding. More languages may be added in future updates.
Why are all languages except English marked as "preview"?
English is the primary language of the game. All other languages are currently marked as "preview" because they are still being polished. The translations are fully playable, but some wording may be improved in future updates. Feedback from players helps refine these languages over time.
If you notice a translation issue, you can report it here: horizontalowl@gmail.com
Why are some translations different from the English version?
Some languages use different phrasing, tone, or structure to sound natural. The goal is not to match English word‑for‑word, but to create a smooth, idiomatic experience in each language.
How do I restore my purchases?
If you reinstall the game or switch devices, your one‑time purchases will restore automatically as long as you use the same Google Play or Apple App Store account. If you don’t see your purchases right away, try restarting the game or your device.
Can i play the game in landscape on iPad?
Why are there ads in the game?
The game uses rewarded ads only - no forced ads. Watching ads is optional and helps support ongoing development.
Can I remove ads?
Yes - ads can be removed with a one‑time, permanent purchase.
The game uses optional rewarded ads only. If you prefer not to see ads at all, you can remove them with a single, lifetime purchase. This permanently removes ads and carries over to new devices as long as you use the same store account. It also helps support development while keeping the game free for everyone.
What ads will be shown?
The game only allows ads suitable for a "General Audience". High‑engagement or sensitive ad categories are disabled. All ads are selected by Google AdMob based on their own policies and your device’s ad settings.
If you ever encounter an ad that seems unsuitable, you can try and adjust your Google ad settings and you can also report it here: horizontalowl@gmail.com

Why do the shop buttons say "Unavailable"?
Sometimes the shop may show “Unavailable” instead of prices. This means the game couldn’t connect to the app store to load the purchase options.
Common reasons include:
1. In‑app purchases are disabled on your device
2. You’re not signed in to the App Store / Google Play
3. The store couldn’t be reached
4. The store failed to initialise
